Helpful Tips When Renting Formalwear

Welcome to Celebrity Tuxedos. We have a large selection to choose from and an array of vest colors to coordinate with bridesmaid dresses. Follow some of these helpful hints to simplify your tuxedo rental process.

Tuxedo Rental Timeline

  • Register for your tuxedos: 3 to 5 months prior to wedding
  • Choose tuxedo styles: 2 to 5 months prior to wedding
  • Tuxedo reservation: 4 to 6 weeks prior to wedding
  • Groomsmen/Ring bearer measurements: 4 to 6 weeks prior to wedding
  • Final fitting: 2 to 3 days prior to wedding
  • Tuxedo return: Day after use

Helpful Suggestions

  • If the bride is in a gown or appliquéd bodice, the groom should be in a tuxedo
  • The brides escort ( Father of the bride) should be in a tuxedo. This is the “money photo”. Make it picture perfect!
  • Try to “coordinate” bridesmaid dresses with tuxedo looks rather that match the colors exactly.
  • If bride is in ivory, the groom should be in ivory and not white. When standing side by side, ivory will tend to look very “dull”! As a rule of thumb, try not to coordinate ivory with white. (Pictures turn out better this way)

Tuxedos and Body

Short and slender gentlemen should consider single breasted jackets with long lines that lengthen the torso, accented with wide peak lapels. Another suggestion is a double breasted tuxedo accenting the shoulders and tapered waist.

Short and solid gentlemen with more robust body types look best in a tuxedo jacket with slim collars. The top button should fall at the small of the waist to give the torso a longer look.

Tall and robust gentlemen with broad shoulders look best in shawl lapel tuxedos. Jacket length is especially important and should fall at the base of the thumb to accentuate the look. Also, thicker necks and wide faces should avoid narrow ties and wing collar shirts. Try spread collar and banded shirts instead.

Tall and slender gentlemen can wear just about any style. A suggested look would be a double breasted tuxedo with broad shoulders and tapered at the waist. Long flowing lines will compliment this body type.
